چکیده

The transient behavior of the optical susceptibility of polydiacetylene induced by an ultrafast pump field is investigated. Within a two-level model which includes phonon effects phenomenologically, an analytical expression for the nonlinear susceptibility is obtained. In addition to spectral hole burning, the novel phenomenon of optical nutation is found. Both this nutation and the shape of the hole depend sensitively on the detuning between the exciton frequency and the sum of the pump field and the phonon mode frequencies. The electronic state and phonon-mediated optical Stark blue shift are also found in this model. The results are in qualitative agreement with experiments and indicate that the steady-state approximation is reliable only when the pulse of the pump field is longer than several exciton

Generation and Application of Energetic Heavy Ion and X-ray via 12tw50fs Laser-solid Interaction

Energetic ions and ultrashort X-rays were generated by an intense ultrashort laser interacting with a copper target. Fast ions up to 3 MeV were observed with CR-39 nuclear track detector sheets when 7 TW laser was used. Cu ∼ Cu ions with the energy from 50 keV to 220 keV were detected with a Thomson parabola detector in the case of the laser power of 2.5 TW. Time-resolved X-ray diffraction was ...

Induction of Localized Hyperthermia by Millisecond Laser Pulses in the Presence of Gold-Gold Sulphide Nanoparticles in a Phantom

Introduction Application of near-infrared absorbing nanostructures can induce hyperthermia, in addition to providing more efficient  photothermal effects. Gold-gold sulfide (GGS) is considered as one of these nanostructures. This study was performed on a tissue-equivalent optical-thermal phantom to determine the temperature profile in the presence and absence of GGS and millisecond pulses of a ...

Ultrafast dynamics of laser-excited solids

Ultrafast dynamical processes in solids may be triggered, studied and even manipulated with help of ultrashort laser pulses. Also for materials processing there is an enormous potential of ultrashort laser pulses. Thus, femtosecond laser–solid interaction is of significant interest to the fields of both basic research and industrial applications. Here, I present results of theoretical considera...

Polarization Dependence of Bulk Ion Acceleration from Ultrathin Foils Irradiated by High-Intensity Ultrashort Laser Pulses.

The acceleration of ions from ultrathin (10-100 nm) carbon foils has been investigated using intense (∼6×10^{20} W  cm^{-2}) ultrashort (45 fs) laser pulses, highlighting a strong dependence of the ion beam parameters on the laser polarization, with circularly polarized (CP) pulses producing the highest energies for both protons and carbons (25-30  MeV/nucleon); in particular, carbon ion energi...
